On February 8th 2025, Kevin, Rebecca, and I, Tina, lead the visit to Accel. We three have never volunteered at this nursing home before, so figuring out what activity is suitable for the seniors was challenging. The visit was like opening a mystery box, we didn’t know the state of the residents. But, it was a pleasant surprise when many of them positively supported our talented members. Although limited members performed, a variety of instruments were played, from piano, to cello, to drums. Because this visit was close to Valentines, we wanted to bring some form of love into their world. Therefore, after a discussion, we decided on heart shaped sun catchers. A useful, fun craft that also helps with motor skills of the seniors. This was our first time making it, something that we could’ve fixed to help with confusion. On the other hand, this craft was a success. A senior kept on holding her suncatcher to the window, and complimenting how pretty it was. In general, this visit was a tremendous accomplishment of teamwork and fulfilling our duty as GKT members.
